Who will benefit from Sage 50c?

Sage 50c is intended to be used in the following situations:

� Business owners who want to have access to their data from the office or from home

� Small businesses where the accountant enters all or nearly all of the accounting information

No.	Question/Answer
1	Do you have to download the company every time?
	No, the download is done only once. The first time a user wants to access the shared company data it is downloaded. After that, the user would open the company like any other Sage 50 company recently opened.
2	If a remote user downloads a local copy then disconnects, how does he reconnect?
	The Sage Drive company data has 1 owner the person who initially shared the data. If this person stops sharing the data, the other users will not be able to open that Sage Drive company any more. Other users are not able to �disconnect� the data. If they want to keep a local copy of the data and not have it connected to Sage Drive, they would need to use the �Save as� or the �Save a copy� option. The new company data would not be connected to Sage Drive. If the user used the �Save as� option, the initial company he downloaded is still connected to Sage Drive.
3	If the user can open a local copy and manually connects, what happens if the the user opens a very old version?
	Sage Drive only keeps the latest version of the company data.
4	How do you set up access to the Sage Drive?
	The user needs to activate the Sage ID for Sage Drive using the �Activate it now� option in the Share Company wizard.
5	Does a customer need to be connected to the Internet to use Sage Drive?
	Yes, customers need an active Internet connection when working with a Sage Drive company.
6	At any given time, how many people can access a Sage Drive company?
	Only one person can work on the file at a time. Sage Drive access is currently only offered as a single-user.

7	Can the file be shared by more than one person?
	The company data owner or person who initially shared the data to Sage Drive can invite up to 4 other users to share the company data. However, only 1 person can work on the file at a time.
8	How does the Sage Drive sharing work? What happens when I share my file?
	When a Sage 50c company is shared in Sage Drive, a copy of the .sai file and of the .saj folder is created on the Sage Drive servers. The local copy of the Sage 50 data remains synchronized with the copy in Sage Drive.
9	When is the company data synchronized to Sage Drive?
	The data is synchronized every time a transaction is posted.
10	Can I block a user from accessing the data?
	Yes the user�s access to a shared Sage Drive company can be removed in the Sage Drive Management Center, in the Edit User screen.
11	What are the possible user roles for Sage Drive?
	There are 2 possible user roles in the Sage Drive Management Center: � User - able to download and post transactions to the company file � Accountant - intended for use by Sage accountants or bookkeepers. They are also able to download and post.
12	Can I disconnect somebody from my file?
	If a user is working on a shared Sage Drive company, it cannot be manually disconnected by somebody else. If the user is inactive for 1 hour, their access to Sage Drive will be released and another user will be able to open the Sage Drive company.
13	What if I have a 3rd party program linked to the Sage 50 data? Does this affect EFT Direct?
	If a Sage 50 company is shared to Sage Drive, access from 3rd party programs is changed to read-only. If the 3rd party program being used by the customer only needs to read from the Sage 50 data, nothing changes. If the 3rd party program needs write access, it cannot be used while the company is shared to Sage Drive.
14	How many companies can be shared through Sage Drive?
	Up to 50 companies can be shared.

How to Restore Sage 50 Custom Reports

Follow the instructions below if you want to do any of the following or if your Sage 50 Custom Reports are missing or damaged:

Restore custom reports from a backup
Restore custom reports without restoring a backup
Restore missing or damaged reports
Recreate missing or damaged custom reports
Custom reports are missing

Backup Warning

Use caution when working with the below product functionality. Always create a backup of your data before proceeding with advanced solutions. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified Sage Business Partner, network administrator, or Sage Customer Support Analyst.

Resolution

Option I: Extract file from a backup

Click Maintain, Company Information.
Write down the location found on the Directory line.
Browse to that location on the computer. Highlight the file RPTDATA.DAT.
Right-click on the file name select Rename. Rename to OLDRPTDATA.DAT.
In the same folder, browse to a backup (*.ptb file) from an earlier time frame when the custom reports were present in the company.
Note: If the backups are stored someplace else, go where the backups are stored.
Right-click on the backup (*.ptb) file of your choice select Copy.
On the Desktop, right-click and select Paste
Right-click the backup file, select Rename. Change only the file extension from .ptb to .zip.
Note: If you receive a message asking if you are sure you want to change the file name, choose Yes.
Right-click on the .zip file and choose Extract Files or Extract All. On the extraction destination window, select OK.
Note:The zip file will extract to a folder with exact same name. The folder will be located on the Desktop.
Open the extracted folder and find the file called RPTDATA.DAT.
Copy the RPTDATA.DAT file.
Browse to the location of the individual company, as previously written down in Step 2.
Paste the RPTDATA.DAT file into the directory of the individual company.
Re-open Sage 50 and the company.
Verify that the custom reports are there again.

Option II: Restore the report files from a backup

Click Maintain, Company Information
Write down the Directory
Restore a backup into a New Company that would have contained your reports following Article ID 10097 How do I restore a backup? linked in Related Resources
Once the backup is restored the restored copy of the company will automatically open
Click Maintain, Company Information
In the Company Name box, rename the company
Write down the Directory, then click OK
Close Sage 50
Browse to the directory from step 7
Right-click the file RPTDATA.DAT, and select Copy
Then browse to the directory from step 2
Rename RPTDATA.DAT to RPTDATA.OLD
Right-click the directory, and select Paste
Close Windows Explorer
Open Sage 50 and your current company
Verify your reports are now available
