How to Print a Packing Slip in Sage 50

In Sage 50 (formerly Peachtree), a sales invoice or sales order must be entered before a packing slip can be printed.

Option I: Print from Reports & Forms

  1. Click Reports & Forms, Forms, and then select Invoices and Packing Slips
  2. Double-click Packing Slip
  3. Choose the appropriate options, and then click Refresh List
  4. Choose Print/E-mail
  5. Verify the packing slip printed correctly

Option II: Print from Sales Order

  1. Select Tasks, Quotes/Sales Orders/Proposals, and then select Sales Orders
  2. Select List
  3. Double-click the appropriate Sales Order
  4. Select Print, Select Form, and then select Sales Order Picking List
  5. Click OK, and then Print

Option III: Print from Sales Invoice

  1. Select Tasks, and then select Sales Invoicing
  2. Select List
  3. Double-click the appropriate Sales Invoice
  4. Select Print, Select Form, and then select Packing Slip
  5. Click OK, and then Print

Learn How to Restrict Who Can Edit Your Sage Intelligence Reports

By using the Sage 50 Intelligence Security Manager you are able to give viewing and editing rights to report users in different roles.

This means that you can allow some users to edit reports in the Report Manager while restricting others. You can also give some users the right to only view the report contents but restrict them from making any edits to any of the report properties.

In this tip we’re going to work through an example of assigning viewing and editing rights to different users.

In this example, XYZ company has a Finance department and a Sales department. John and Paul work in Finance and Tim and Judy are in Sales and you want John to be able to edit the financial reports and both John and Paul to only view the financial and sales reports. You also want Tim and Judy to be able to edit the sales reports but not any of the finance reports.

This example depicts a a fully integrated version of Sage Intelligence, therefore the users are automatically added to the Security Manager. If you are not using a fully integrated version then you’ll need to manually create your users in the Security Manager. We have also created two roles, Sales and Finance and turned security on.

1. SageIntelligence

The first requirement is to give John editing rights for the financial reports: 

  1. Add John to the Finance role by selecting it and then checking him under the Users tab.

2. Select the Reports tab and check the reports you want John to have access to.

3. Select the Functions tab and check the option: Allow Reports in the Role to be edited.

The editing rights for John have been completed.  (Note that by enabling the editing option, he automatically inherits viewing rights as well.) To assign editing rights for the sales reports to Tim and Judy you would follow the same process:

1. Select the Sales role and then under the Users tab check Tim and Judy to add them to the role.

2. Under the Reports tab select the sales reports you want them to be able to edit.

3. Under the Functions tab check the option to give them editing rights.

Tim and Judy are now able to edit and view the two sales reports.  

The last requirement is to give John and Paul viewing (not editing) rights to the financial and sales reports. To do this you need to create a separate role. (It has been designated in this instance as SalesFin View.) 

1. Select the SalesFin View role and under the Users tab, check John and Paul to add them to the role.

2. Under the Reports tab select both the sales and finance reports.

3. Under the Functions tab, make sure that the edit option is unchecked.

Now that all the security options have been setup, the next time John signs in and accesses the Report Manager, he will be able to run both the financial and sales reports and if he selects the financial reports, the report properties will be made available for him to edit.

It’s important to note that the edit option only applies to unlocked reports. If you need to give editing rights to a locked report you would make a copy of it first and then assign the rights to the copy.

FAQ's Regarding Your Sage 50 Business Care Renewal

If your Sage 50 Business Care Plan is coming up for renewal here are a few FAQ's that our customers consistently ask us:

Should I renew with the Sage 50 Traditional Plan or Sage 50c (Cloud) Subscription Plan?  

Sage 50c is a new product and Sage is providing some great pricing incentives at renewal time.  Here's the fine print to help you with your decision:
  
The Sage 50 Traditional Business Care Plan

  • If you want to own your software (perpetual license) this is your ONLY option -- it does not expire
  • You have unlimited technical support for one year from the date of purchase
  • You will receive all software upgrades and updates for one year, including the Sage Intelligence Reporting feature
  • Sage requires all payroll customers be on this plan
  • You can opt out of this plan and continue to use your software as-is and unsupported UNLESS you are a payroll customer or utilizing several other third-party add-on products that require that you be on a current Sage 50 business care plan.  

Sage 50c (Cloud) Monthly  or Annual Subscription Auto-Renewing Plan

  • You do not own this software
  • You must have a valid credit card on file with Sage and you will be charged the monthly / annual subscription fee
  • You will receive all software upgrades and updates, the Sage Intelligence Reporting feature and unlimited technical support as long as your account with Sage is current
  • If your monthly/annual payment is not made your software will go to READ only after 20 days and you can no longer use the software until you pay the reactivation fee and bring your account current
  • This can be used with payroll and other 3rd party add-on products
  • You may terminate the plan with 7 days’ notice prior to your renewal date and not be charged for the renewal

I'm on a Sage 50 subscription plan but want to transition back to the Traditional Plan.  Can I do this?

Yes, you can!  Please contact Sage 50 sales for pricing.  

I NEVER call Sage for technical support.  Can I get renewal pricing without the support option? 

Unfortunately, it's all or nothing.  Sage 50 technical support (via email, chat, remote access) is included whether you use it or not.  Sage has found that the majority of Sage 50 customers are very happy with their Sage 50 when they have current accounting software and are fully supported.  

How do I add licenses to my Sage 50 software?

If you are on a current business care plan (Traditional or Subscription) you can add licenses at any time.  Sage pro-rates the license cost based on the time remaining on your business care plan.  If your business care plan expires and you want to add licenses you would have to purchase a software upgrade to obtain the additional licenses.  If you need to add licenses, just give us a call and we'll send you pricing!
 
Why do I have to renew my business care plan directly with Sage and not CBA like I used to do?

Approximately two (2) years ago Sage started handling all renewals directly since they determine the renewal pricing and also implemented 6 different payroll pricing tiers.  It would have become too confusing/cumbersome for CBA or other Sage 50 resellers / consultants to provide accurate renewal pricing to customers.

FAQ Regarding Purchasing Sage 50 2017 Accounting Software & Support Options

Effective February 15, 2016 Sage made a change to how you can purchase the Sage 50 2017 accounting software (Sage 50 Pro, Premium or Quantum).  You can purchase and own the software or purchase an annual or monthly subscription (if you are purchasing from Sage’s website, this is what you are buying). 


As a Sage 50 authorized reseller since 1989, we can assist you with your purchase of any of the following software and support options:


The Basic Plan – 3 Support Instances (Retail and International Customers ONLY)
  • This is not sold on the Sage website
  • You are purchasing and own the actual software --it does not expire
  • You may call Sage 3 times for support within one year from the date of purchase
  • You will receive all software upgrades and updates for one year, including the Sage Intelligence Reporting feature 
  • This cannot be used with payroll or any other Sage 3rd party add-ons
  • You are not required to pay a renewal fee
  • DVD is included (free shipping to US based customers; international customers incur S/H charges).


The Traditional Plan - Unlimited Support (US Based & International Customers)
  • This is not sold on the Sage website
  • If you are located in the United States and want to own your software this or RETAIL is your ONLY option
  • You are purchasing and own the actual software (perpetual license) -- it does not expire
  • You have unlimited technical support for one year from the date of purchase
